Expressions like global warming and greenhouse effect have taken a bad connotation, but they are also responsible for life to display on earth in such variety and richness.
The project proposal wants to develop a sustainable design using them as a resource, planting in the site area the seeds for a new more responsible urbanism and hoping that the growing city could be colonized by this new species.
The starting point is the creation of a basic element that could lead the whole system to a more sustainable use of the land. This element which is strongly performing in cold climate zones is the greenhouse or the winter garden.
The project proposes using the greenhouses as a multipurpose elements where different uses and activities could take place. They become structural nodal elementes of a more expanded network, living in symbiosis with the artificial and natural world diplaying around them.
They work as a km. 0 producers of vegetable/plants/flowers giving the district inhabitants new job/hobby/exchange opportunities; they allow, inside them, new activities to mix with the cultivation (municipal services, cafés, cultural activities, libraries, shops or markets, temporary expositions, restaurants etc.); they work as attractive element for social life; they collect rainwater and host heat-pumps.
They boost the surroundings districts and the new one generating cumulative positive effects on both: a new “greenhouse effect”.

La proposta di progetto vuole sviluppare un design sostenibile utilizzando l'effetto serra come una risorsa, piantando nell'area di progetto i semi di una nuova urbanistica responsabile, confidando che la città in crescita possa essere colonizzata da queste nuove specie.
Il punto di partenza è la creazione di elementi di base che conducano il sistema ad un uso più sostenibile del territorio, elementi particolarmente performanti nelle zone climatiche fredde: le serre o giardini d'inverno.
Il progetto propone di usare la serra come un elemento multifunzione dove usi differenziati e nuove attività possano avere luogo. Esse diventano elementi strutturali e nodali di una rete più estesa, vivendo in simbiosi con i mondi artificiale e naturale che le circondano.
Esse lavorano come produttrici a Km. 0 di frutta, verdure, fiori, dando agli abitanti nuovo lavoro, spazio per hobby, opportunità di scambio e permettendo che al loro interno si sviluppino nuove attività in affiancamento alla coltivazione: servizi del Comune, bar, attività culturali, biblioteche, negozi, mercati, esposizioni temporanee, ristoranti ecc.; lavorano come elementi attrattori della vita sociale; raccolgono neve e acqua piovana e ospitano pompe di calore.
Generano nuovi effetti positivi a catena sui quartieri all'intorno: un nuovo "effetto serra".
